About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

The British gardener Gertrude Jekyll once famously said that gardening is "the slowest of the performing arts." As gardeners, we look for ways to prolong "the show" in our gardens with blooms, foliage, and other ornamental features in very early spring or in very late fall, minimizing the visually austere winter months. This not only prolongs the beauty of our gardens for as long as possible, but it can provide crucial sources of pollen and food to foraging pollinators and other wildlife. Led by Bedrock Educator Lisa Cordner, this program will look at some plants and gardening techniques that can be used to prolong and extend the growing season in your garden, in addition to serving the ecosystem.
