Hosted by Black Male Initiative, this open mic invites poets, spoken word artists, rappers, singers, songwriters, storytellers, organizers, and community members into a space built for expression, healing, connection, and truth-telling. Whether you are stepping on stage for the first time or coming to listen, support, and be inspired, Expressive Ink is a room where every voice matters.Rooted in the legacy of Black creativity, this event honors poetry, music, and storytelling as tools for reflection, resistance, restoration, and collective power. From personal stories to social issues, from joy to grief, from lived experience to calls for change, Expressive Ink creates space for people to speak from the heart and be heard with care.Guests can enjoy a live DJ, networking, free food, community connection, and an open mic stage where performers sign up in person the day of the event — old-school style, with a paper sign-up sheet at the venue. No cost to attend. No cost to eat. No cost to perform.Come as you are. Bring a poem, a verse, a song, a story, or simply your presence. Expressive Ink is for anyone who believes that creativity can heal, community can restore, and our voices can move us toward something better.
