Expository Preaching Workshop

An expository preaching workshop jointly sponsored by Fellowship Baptist Church and First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City.

Garden City is excited to welcome back Josh Black as the facilitator of our Expository Preaching Workshop for pastors. Your cost for this workshop will include cover the cost of breakfast, refreshments, and lunch for the day. Sign up soon because registration cost increases on March 15th.

What will we be doing at this workshop?

This workshop will consist of three things: Instructional Sessions (sessions on principles of exposition), Exposition (a time of preaching/teaching from the Bible), and Small Groups (where participants present a worksheet on an assigned text for feedback). The Small Groups include presentation of study from volunteers on assigned passages using a provided Sermon Preparation Worksheet.

8:30-8:45 - Check-in/Continental Breakfast

8:45-9:30 - Methodology

9:45-10:45- Instructional Session

11:00-12:00 - Instructional Session

LUNCH - Catered by 1979 Food Truck

12:45-2:30 - Small Groups

2:45-3:15 - Sermon

Is there food?

Yes! Light breakfast and refreshments will provided, as well as a lunch, catered by one of our local vendors. You won't leave hungry.

Who is teaching?

Josh Black is a Garden City native that now pastors First Evangelical Free Church of Wichita (firstfreewichita.org). Josh also is a facilitator for the preaching workshops with the Charles Simeon Trust (simeontrust.org).

Mike Collins is the Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Garden City (fellowshipgc.com).

What will I need to do to prepare?

One passage will be assigned to each registrant. Each person will fill out the Simeon Trust worksheet on that passage and come prepared to present their worksheet to a small group of their peers for feedback.

Who can come?

This workshop is geared toward pastors, elders, and teachers who regularly preach in local churches.
