Exploring Virtual Reality: Conversance with VR-enabled E-commerce

Born out of a desire that technology professionals in Technopark, Kerala, should not lag behind when it comes to the futuristic technologies, FAYA:80 was kick-started in June, 2013 and is organized on the first Wednesday of every month at the Floor of Madness, FAYA in Technopark, Trivandrum.FAYA:80 celebrated its 50th edition in July, 2017 with DISRUPT KERALA 2017, a day-long tech event, with a lineup of global speakers and visionaries. DISRUPT KERALA 2017 also saw the launch of two separate ongoing chapters of FAYA:80 in Kochi and Kozhikode, which are conducted on the second and third Wednesdays of the month respectively.

FAYA

VR has proved to be a breakthrough technology for a variety of industries to improve their customer experience. This interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment, holds enormous potential to change the future for a number of fields, including the world of retail. However, in the absence of reliable instructions supported with experience, those who want to try out this technology are still hesitant to move forward with it.
BuildNext is a Kerala based start-up working on elevating the customer experience in construction industry using technology. Its experience centres are Virtual Reality-enabled, and it is one of the first commercial applications of VR outside of gaming sector.
The 12th edition of FAYA: 80 Kochi, Exploring Virtual Reality: Conversance with VR-enabled E-commerce, would be an experience sharing platform where the audience could learn from the account of BuildNext’s journey with VR. It will be a great opportunity to gain helpful insights for working with VR and for foreseeing the potential challenges in that encounter.

About Speaker
Mr. Gopikrishnan V is the founder of the internet based building material procurement platform, BuildNext. He graduated B.Arch (Hons.) from IIT Kharagpur, winning the presitigious ‘B.C. Roy Gold Medal’ for the Best Outgoing Student. He further went on to do his post-graduation from IIM Bangalore. He is a registered architect with the Council of Architecture, India, and a LEED accredited professional.

FAYA: 80 is a monthly technology hangout for technology enthusiasts by technology enthusiasts to break the ice, analyse and evaluate emerging trends in technology. Held on the first, second and third Wednesdays of the month at Trivandrum, Kochi and Kozhikode respectively, the series stands for Free Knowledge Sharing and aims to provide an open platform for entrepreneurs, developers and technology professionals to keep at par with the latest tools and technologies.
