Exploring the Night Sky

Join the Woodbridge Library to learn ways to explore the night sky!

Join the <a href="http://woodbridgelibrary.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Woodbridge Public Library </a>virtually March 2 at 7PM as Paul Cirillo of the New Jersey Astronomical Association teaches us techniques on how to identify constellations, locate planets, and more in the night sky. Discover what internet resources are available to help the beginning astronomer. Included will be a demonstration of using a star map to help you explore the sky, as well as how easy it is to view the International Space Station and satellites without the need for a telescope! A generous amount of time will be set aside for questions.

Paul has been fascinated by astronomy and space missions all his life and enjoys sharing his knowledge with the public. Paul is a member of the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which operates the largest public observatory in New Jersey. He was also the founder of Somerset County’s 4-H Space &amp; Astronomy Club and its leader for ten years.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University and is a volunteer outreach “Ambassador” for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Paul has an easy style of communicating, which allows diverse audiences to easily understand and enjoy his presentations on the wonders of the universe and how we are exploring it. His presentations always include the very latest astronomical images from observatories both on and off the Earth!

This event is one of many events held in support of New Jersey STEM Month. From 2015-2017, New Jersey hosted an annual New Jersey STEM Week to promote the state’s commitment to STEM excellence. The month-long observance highlights the Garden State’s strong presence and accomplishments in STEM, including its industry, academic, government and non-profit sectors.
