Event description

Description

Gateway Cities can accommodate thousands of new housing units and thousands of new jobs on the vacant and underutilized land surrounding their rail stations. This walkable, mixed-use urban land offers an ideal setting for transit-oriented development (TOD) to take hold.

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission is pleased to join MassINC Gateway Cities Innovation Institute's Ben Forman and the Valley's own Dan Hodge of Hodge Economic Consulting to discuss the findings of their recent report on such TOD potential surrounding Springfield's Union Station and beyond.

Join us for free BBQ, a cash bar, networking with fellow smart growth advocates, and hear directly from the researches on the possibilities Springfield's upcoming passenger rail service increases have hold.
