About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join host Nina Guertin for an interactive art-driven workshop to reflect on grief and legacy. This event will include two parts: we will start with a watercolor activity, and then, as our watercolors dry, we will continue with a legacy tree artistic project in the medium of your choice (markers, colored pencils, and crayons will be provided.)

About your host

Nina Guertin is a trained End-of-Life / Death Doula, a trained and certified Interfaith Spiritual Director, a certified Grief Support Specialist, an End-of-Life-Doula Mentor, a Ritualist / Celebrant, Aromatherapist, and an Angel Artist / Ceramicist.

The Lakewood Welcome Center

This event will be held in the Lakewood Welcome Center Community Room. This stunning space offers the perfect opportunity for conversations and education. As part of our vision to reimagine the role of a cemetery in modern life, Lakewood is proud to offer this dedicated community space to gather and explore topics related to death, grief, nature, art and more. Learn more about the Welcome Center.

The Learn @ Lakewood Series

Lakewood is honored to hold space for education and information specifically related to death, grief, urban nature, and art in this new series. Partnering with professionals from many disciplines, we explore ideas, encourage thought-provoking conversations, and exchange fresh perspectives with our community. If you have an idea for an educational event you would like to see at Lakewood, please contact amandal@lakewoodcemetery.org.

Scholarship Program

At Lakewood, we want death and grief education to be accessible for all. Therefore, we offer up to 10 scholarships for professionals or aspiring professionals in the death and dying field (deathcare, death education, spiritualists, ritualists, and more are encouraged to apply). We reserve 5 scholarships for BIPOC individuals with a practice or interest in this field.

Scholarship recipients will be awarded:

  • 1 ticket to the event at no cost

To apply or learn more about the scholarship, please email amandal@lakewoodcemetery.org.
