2.8-mile walk at Stella Olsen Park & Cedar Creek Trail. Discover Sherwood’s growing trail network with Friends of Chehalem Trails.

Hike Description:

Join Friends of Chehalem Trails for a fall walk through Stella Olsen Park and the Cedar Creek Trail in Sherwood.

This 2.8-mile loop will showcase Sherwood’s growing trail system, including the newly completed segment A of the Cedar Creek Trail, part of the future Ice Age Tonquin Trail. When complete, this 22-mile trail will link Sherwood, Tualatin, and Wilsonville, while also connecting to the larger 1,000+ mile planned regional trail network, as well as the potential for a future link to Champoeg State Park via the proposed French Prairie Bridge. Regional trails play a vital role in advancing the area’s Active Transportation Plan, helping people get around safely without cars.

Whether you’re a Sherwood resident or visiting from a neighboring town, this walk is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the bigger vision for our trails.

Planned Route: 2.81 mile loop starting and ending at Stella Oleson Park. https://onthegomap.com/s/9o4qlchp

Hike Leader: Jim Booker

Our walk will be led by Jim Booker, a retired professor of economics from Siena University and a current member of the Sherwood Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Jim is also a frequent walker at Bob and Crystal Rilee Park, the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, and many of the surrounding trails.

Directions from Newberg:

As you enter Sherwood on OR99, cross under the new pedestrian bridge and at the next traffic light turn right onto SW Meinecke. At the traffic circle take the 2nd exit, and shortly after you will pass the middle school on your right. Keeping straight, descend to cross Cedar Creek. Almost immediately after crossing the creek, turn left into the parking lot for our walk.
