Explore Shared Gifting, an innovative model for grant decision making

“...transforming the field of philanthropy by bringing collaboration, transparency and community wisdom into the grant-making process and fostering relationships that will change the way the world works with money.” - RSF Social Finance

Community Food Strategies is exploring the concept of Shared Gifting for North Carolina, with a focus on piloting a participatory grants process in 2020 for food councils and networks. We invite all food council members and partners to participate in this series of zoom calls to learn about shared gifting and give input into what a model and process would look like in North Carolina for the network of food councils.

Shared Gifting Circles (quick video explanation) can give ownership, distribution and allocation authority to the recipients of grants. By moving decision making power of grant funds from donors to organizations, trust, accountability, reciprocity and relationships are created in a way that moves beyond traditional philanthropic models.

Anyone is welcome to join.

On this first call, we'll review resources to better understand the model and discuss what the benefits may be for the North Carolina food council network.
