About this event

In these two May sessions we will look at expression; using gesture, tone, music prompts, and different ways of mark making. The EXPLORE Drawing sessions include exercises to loosen up, and different techniques and applications to make drawing more accessible in a non judgemental way. Sessions are on May 13th and May 20th; sign up for just one session or for both. $17.50/ for each session.

Georgina Brandon studied Fine Arts and Ceramic sculpture at Mount Allison University and Emily Carr College of Art & Design, and has taught workshops to all ages for the past 25 years. She works in clay, painting, illustration, and drawing. Georgina is currently studying Mental Health & Addictions Counselling at VCC and is very interested in how the expressive language of art can benefit mental health.

Drawing is:

A different way of communicating other than talking, and one that children often excel at but then forget along the way.

Great for our brains as it uses different areas of the brain.

Activates the imagination which is where ideas and hope lie.

Initiates problem solving.

Opens one up to a sense of wonder.

Leads to new ideas.

Helps us to look at the world differently and enhances observation skills.

Prompts us to focus.

Leads to a flow state.

A good way to share ideas.

Simple and creative.

Fundamental to all other mediums.

Materials needed: A sketchbook (7” x 10” or 9” x12”), Blackwing pearl pencil (or any 2B good quality pencil), pencil sharpener, 12 (different colours) colour pencils.
