Sam is a scientist who performs poetry.Dan is a poet who writes about science.Together, they are: Dr. Illingworth & Mr. Simpson!Coming together through their shared passions for spoken word and propagating the incredible research and experiments happening in science, Dan and Sam create and deliver popular science projects and shows. They work in Universities and art spaces, at schools and festivals, digitally and in print - bringing an innovative and exciting approach to science communication.

Dr Illingworth & Mr Simpson

Biology meets balladry, physics encounters pentameter, and chemistry confronts cadence as leading scientists are paired with the finest spokenword artists – and challenged to create new microperformances.
The result? A diverse display of rhyme, rhythm and reason, which celebrates the creative similarities between science and the performing arts.
Hosted by scientific poet Dan Simpson and poetic scientist Dr. Sam Illingworth, this will be an evening of precise delights and unexpected insights.
