But there is much more to the tale. He is also the author of two previous books on American history, "The Bill of the Century: The Epic Battle for the Civil Rights Act" and "A Nation on Fire: America in the Wake of the King Assassination," as well as two guidebooks about whiskey, "Single Malt: A Guide to the Whiskeys of Scotland" and "American Whiskey, Bourbon and Rye: A Guide to the Nation's Favorite Spirit," which has sold more than 100,000 copies. Risen grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and now lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
