Description: Microsoft’s Cloud Developer Advocates, Trans*Code, & CodeClan are excited to host a Women & Non-Binary Community Breakfast on the last day of EuroPython 2018. Please join us for a healthy breakfast buffet and an opportunity to discuss Filling the Skills Gap: The How’s & What’s. The panelist will include the following individuals:
Suzanne Dyson (Panel Moderator, IT Old Hand): Suzanne Dyson has over twenty years experience of complex engineering and IT development in organisations including: British Aerospace, Coopers and Lybrand, ICL and Fujitsu Systems. Through much of this time she has specialised in software engineering for large and complex systems. Suzanne is currently exploring the Nodejs microcosm using Node with Strapi/MongoDB and React front-ends. Her spare time is filled by music, in composing, mentoring and performing, with organisations such as Girls Rock School Edinburgh.
Nina Zakharenko (Panelist, Cloud Developer Advocate at Microsoft): Nina Zakharenko is a Cloud Developer Advocate at Microsoft, focusing on Python. Before joining Microsoft, she was a software engineer with over a decade of experience who honed her technical chops writing software for companies like Reddit, Meetup, and HBO. In her spare time, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and riding her bike from her home base of Portland, OR.
Naomi Ceder (Panelist, Co-founder of Trans*Code & Chair of Python Software Foundation) - Naomi Ceder is the co-founder of Trans*Code and the current chair of the Python Software Foundation Board of Directors. She is also author of the Quick Python Book, 3rd Ed, and has taught Python to diverse audiences for many years. She has helped organize PyCon North America and PyCon UK, originating the poster sessions, Education summit, Intro to Sprinting Workshop, and Las PyCon Charlas. Naomi is also the Open Source Development Manager for Dick Blick Art Supplies.
Sara Dodd (Panelist, Head of Business Development at CodeClan): Sara has been leading innovative training courses in digital and web technologies for job seekers, career changers and teachers at both her own company, Net Resources and now with CodeClan. Working with the SQA, she led the development of the Computing Science national curriculum and helped create the PDA in Software Development. She sat on the board of ScotlandIS and is currently a member of the SAAB standards and frameworks board. She works closely with both industry and public sector to open up greater opportunities for women in tech, and CodeClan acts as host to CodeBar, Women Who Code, BCS Women, and more recently initiatives aimed engaging younger girls in tech.
