Euchre Night

ESTABLISHED IN 1857, REESTABLISHED IN 2017, WALDMANN BREWERY & WURSTERY IS PROOF AND TRIBUTE TO THE PIONEERING SPIRITFirst opened prior to the Civil War by Bavarian immigrant Anton Waldmann and his wife (Wilhel)Mina, Waldmann is the oldest surviving saloon building in the Twin Cities. Meticulously restored to its frontier grace and simplicity, Waldmann once again welcomes all with the warmth of its wood stoves, lamplight and traditionally-crafted house-made lagers, wursts and other honest fare. Waldmann is a humble, memorable place—full of stories and tradition that just may inspire you to make a few of your own.

Waldmann Brewery

On Monday night, June 25, the historic Waldmann Brewery & Wurstery will be open exclusively for a tournament (“bustle”) of euchre.  An entry fee of $3.00 per player gives you a night of euchre, comradery, free pepper bacon popcorn, Waldmann’s great lagers (for purchase—coffee, soda and seltzer also available), and the opportunity to win the house purse, with 100% cash pay-out of the cumulative registration fees!  Tournament play starts at 7:30pm and runs to 10:00pm.
 
Euchre is easy to learn and beginners are welcome—for those needing lessons or a quick refresher, come at 6:30pm.
 
Following the prize awards, a history and brewery tour will be offered to all participants.
 
For this inaugural event, registration will be limited to the first 60 players.
 
Cash pay-out: 1st place = 50%, 2nd place = 30%, 3rd place = 20%.
 
The night will mark a return of euchre to Waldmann, where it was most assuredly played 161 years ago when this historic German-American lager house first opened in 1857.  Euchre was the most popular card game in the United States in the mid- to late 1800’s.
