ETERNAL series of music events and other situations launches in London with Eternal May, welcoming the unique collective, Idrîsî Ensemble, that performs rare mediaeval repertoire from period manuscripts, together with UNESCO-protected and endangered traditions.
Idrîsî Ensemble presents their tribute to the trobairitz, where the medieval female voice resurfaces with timeless relevance. Interlacing Armenian, Greek, Roman, French, and Corsican music, they capture the spiritual and cultural heart of medieval Occitania. Idrîsî has developed a stunningly ornate and microtonal form of singing for this beautiful ancient repertoire, rigorously based on medieval treatises, pre-Gregorian and Mediterranean traditions.
The ETERNAL series is supported by The Richard Thomas Foundation.
:::
Curated by Sasha Elina, the ETERNAL series of music events and multi-disciplinary situations is a new London-based project that aims to present and support diverse perspectives, communities, and artistic provocations. It welcomes the audience to join a movement that accommodates both emerging and established artists, bridging the classical and the novel. Music, theatre, dance, moving image, sound art, poetry and their crossovers enter the ETERNAL series, with no limits or genre restrictions.
