Estero Bay Wading Trip

Come join us for an exciting adventure in Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve! Grab your waders (or swimsuit) and get ready to explore the shallow waters teeming with wildlife. This in-person event is perfect for nature enthusiasts looking to get up close and personal with the beauty of the bay.

Dip nets and seine nets will be provided for participants to collect organisms such as fish, shrimp, crabs, and snails, which will be placed in buckets or magnifiers so that everyone can take a closer look, and learn how each living creature plays an important role in the ecosystem. Closed toe shoes will be required to participate.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I park?

Parking is free and available on both sides of the road. Keep an eye out for our blue and white colored sign.

What age group is the appropriate for?

We recommend children age 5 and older to benefit most from this explorative opportunity.

What do I wear?

Please come prepared to get dirty and wet. The water may come up to the waist at the deepest point. Closed toe shoes are required, this can be older sneakers or dive booties.

What should I bring?

Please be prepared for the Florida summer elements. Pack sunscreen, water, towel and bug repellant.

The mission of the EBB is to support the further protection, conservation, restoration, management and the enhancement of the natural and cultural resources of the coastal and aquatic ecosystems of the Estero Bay estuary and watershed for the enjoyment and appreciation of current and future generations.
