About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

This online forum will explore the basics of local food systems (what they are, who works on them, why they are so complex, and why supporting your local food system is vitally important) and food policy councils. Guest speakers will also discuss the state's SB 1000 requirements, which incorporates environmental justice efforts for city and county land-use planning and plays a role in food justice efforts. The event will include representatives from the Solano Local Food System Alliance and neighboring food policy councils to discuss their current strategic goals and projects, which aim to build more equity, greater access to local food, and support for our farmers. The Sacramento Food Policy Council, which has addressed SB 1000, has been invited to participate.

This is part of the Alliance’s dedication to holding public educational sessions around topics of interest to the local food system.
