Cities and counties in California are required by state law to consider the amount of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) that would be generated when they evaluate development projects. With the Equitable VMT Mitigation Program, VTA seeks to develop a framework where cities, the county and developers can work together to improve transportation options that reduce driving and improve equity along the way.
The project staff gathered valuable input from the community about their travel challenges in the Fall of 2023. After careful evaluation, the team is ready to share feasible solutions that can address those concerns.
