Join the Michigan Equal Pay Coalition for its 2020 Equal Pay Action Day on ZOOM (by video or phone), 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, September 16! The lineup of speakers and presenters will discuss the ongoing effects of women&#x27;s economic insecurity and state and federal efforts to help close the wage gap. Twenty-four bills to strengthen Michigan’s equal pay laws were introduced in 2019.  An update on the status of these bills will be addressed by our legislators. Also, important information about Michigan GOTV efforts and what the state is doing to ensure everyone&#x27;s vote is secure and counted in November. Confirmed speakers and presenters: <ul><li>Michigan State Attorney General Dana Nessel</li><li>Digital presence by Senator Gary Peters</li><li>Eileen Davis, ERratify Virginia </li><li>Dr. Stephanie Nawyn, MSU Co-Director for the Center for Gender Equity in a Global Context</li><li>Janet D. Watkins, President AAUW Detroit Branch</li></ul>Scheduled speakers and presenters:<ul><li>Lilly Ledbetter who took her pay discrimination case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and lobbied for the federal law named for her. </li><li> Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer </li><li>Representative Padma Kuppa</li></ul>Registration for this free Zoom video or conference call event is required.
