Epitaph for Eugene Williams - for double chorus and string quartet
Grace Chorale of Brooklyn and Apollo Chorus of Chicago debut our collaboration -“Epitaph for Eugene William" - for two choruses and quartet
This original work is a brief narrative with chorus and poetry, based upon "A Stone to the Head: The Death of Eugene Williams," which was commissioned by Grace Chorale of Brooklyn and first performed in Brooklyn in 2019, is even more relevant today. We tell the story of Eugene Willams, A boy whose death in the summer of 1919 triggered the Chicago Race riots.

Angel Dye will narrate her poetry.
Apollo & Grace will host an online premiere event on Sunday June 13th (at 7:00pm CDT/8:00pm EDT), which will include a conversation with Chicago historian Julius L. Jones, as well some remarks from the composers, Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa and Flannery Cunningham.
Tickets are free, but registration is required to attend the premiere event.
Donations will be much appreciated, and will enable the choruses to offer exciting programming in coming year.
