Epiphany Summer Fete 2024

You're invited to join us for our annual Epiphany Summer Fete, celebrating our wonderful community of creatives. Epiphany Magazine is a semiannual print and online literary journal and an independent nonprofit that supports practicing writers at every stage of their careers.

This year's Fete will be a dreamy June night, filled with: mingling over cocktails and delicious nibbles; inspiring words from our brilliant featured speaker, award-winning novelist Anne Landsman; music from the mesmerizing Miwa Gemini; and tantalizing auction prizes. All to be held at The Urbane Arts Club, a sprawling Victorian mansion and former speakeasy in Ditmas Park. Enjoy exploring the lovely porch, parlor rooms, ballroom (strewn with fairy lights!), and courtyard, where you're sure to find both old friends and new. We can't wait to share the evening with you!

FEATURED SPEAKER

Anne Landsman is a novelist, essayist, and filmmaker. Her novels, The Rowing Lesson and The Devil’s Chimney, were awarded South Africa’s two top literary awards, the Sunday Times Fiction Prize and the M-­Net Literary Award and were nominated for the PEN/Hemingway Award, the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize, the Ribalow Prize and the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. She’s also written for numerous publications including Vanity Fair, The Washington Post and The Guardian, and has taught fiction and screenwriting in the M.F.A. programs at Columbia University, Brooklyn College and the New School for Social Research. She is currently directing and producing a documentary film, Daughters of the Wind, about Palestinian girls who ride and train horses.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCE

It’s hard to describe the music of Miwa Gemini. Much like the name suggests their sound is mercurial, drawing influences that range from Erik Satie to Beyoncé. Their songs were soaked in a whiskey barrel, dried off a balcony in Paris in the 1920's, and finally polished by the hustle and bustle of NYC. Their unique blend of watertight harmony is accompanied by a simple yet intricate instrumentation, and their infectious melodies will have you smiling in no time.

The Urbane Arts Club is a 1920s speakeasy turned events venue and arts community, where century-old elegance meets today's creative vibrancy in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.
