Imagínese usar un láser (sí, ¡un láser real!) para grabar diseños creativos, recortar tarjetas de presentación únicas, desarrollar componentes mecánicos y mucho más. Nuestra cortadora láser Black Cat Labs contiene un potente láser, excelente para grandes proyectos y cortes eficientes. Después de aprender a operar nuestra cortadora láser Black Cat Labs en Fabville, los estudiantes podrán cortar y grabar formas y diseños en todo tipo de productos y superficies. Este taller cubrirá la exportación y preparación del trabajo con Lightburn para que el láser corte o grabe materiales como cartón, madera contrachapada y acrílico. Se recomiendan conocimientos básicos de software como Inkscape e Illustrator.


Este curso sera co-enseñado por un graduado de Somerville High School y estudiante en proceso de sacar un licenciatura en Ingeniería Mecánica en Wentworth Institute of Technology, Edgar Flores Ramos. Emigró de El Salvador a una edad temprana y habla español y inglés con fluidez. Está emocionado de ayudar en estas clases en español y contribuir a la comunidad hispanohablante de Somerville.

Fabville Design Lab

The Fabville Fabrication Laboratory is housed at Somerville High School in a newly designed Engineering classroom which offers a dynamic co-working space comprised of daytime high school classes and afterschool programs for students and adults. When you arrive at the main entrance of the school, you will be greeted by a door monitor and directed downstairs slightly to the right as you enter. At the bottom of the stairs hang a left and you will have found FabVille.

In order to ensure the safety of students and community members alike, all users must fill out a membership form before visiting FabVille. Bring your student or government-issued ID with you when visiting FabVille. Thank you
