Entrelac is fun and fascinating! It is all about rectangles and triangles that are knit in a manner that creates a fabric that looks woven. It is a unique method of creating knitted fabric. It is also one of the few techniques when knowing how to knit backwards is advantageous. Students will learn and practice several units of Entrelac while knitting a Square (call it a potholder) and learning to knit backwards.

Proficiency: Must be able to

· Knit and purl with ease

· Be comfortable picking up stitches

· Be able to decrease (k2tog, p2tog, ssk), increase (kf&b) and bind off

Students should bring:

· DK or Worsted yarn, two or three colors, I recommend light colors and a smooth yarn

· Knitting needles appropriate to yarn

· The usual knitters’ notions (stitch markers, scissors, etc)

· Pencil and paper if you like to take notes

Instructor will provide a color schematic illustrating how the square is knit with Entrelac units. Directions for creating each type of unit are included.

Charge for handout: $2.00
