Ritmo Workshop

Passatge de Masoliver, 4, bajos 2Barcelona, CT
viernes, abr 17 desde 3p.m. a 6p.m.
Información general

Join us for an afternoon of hands-on exercises, where we'll explore how an image is formed and how it communicates meaning.

WHAT IT’S ABOUT
This workshop is about helping you understand and evolve your visual language by building up on your process—the unique set of marks, choices, and patterns that define how you make images. Over the course of an afternoon, we’ll explore how image is formed, how it communicates meaning, and how to recognize what you’re already doing (even unconsciously). It’s about learning how to see—how to recognize what we don’t yet know, and how that awareness can be directed toward constructing meaning.

You will learn how each one of us (Claudia, Loris, Seb and Macarena) create images in different ways and have the time to explore them yourself. There is richness in diversity and we decided to be open about it. There is not right way. All processes can be positive if they allow us to find better work. We kick off the conversation around the concept of Rhythm because it is fun, dynamic and all four of us have an interesting approach to it. Once we start creating all dimensions of image making are going to be discussed.

Rhythm is an structural dimension of our practice. Rhythm helps control how someone looks at your work, it infuses life into visual ideas and it can help create unity and cohesion across your body of work.

WHO IT’S FOR
Illustrators, animators, designers, artists, students, and anyone curious about how images speak. You don’t need to be a “professional” drawer—just someone open to exploring.

You don’t need to know how to draw. Creating images isn’t limited to drawing, painting, or collage. It can be about organizing elements, arranging shapes, choosing colors, or even working with text. The medium doesn’t matter as much as the intent behind it. What we’re exploring here is visual thinking—how to make choices that communicate something meaningful.

WHAT WE’LL DO
- Introduction: A short talk about our process and image-making.
- Concept: Identify your subject and explore through sketching.
- Coffee break and conversation.
- Rhythm: Add rhythm to your image using repetition, scale, and distortion.
- Collage & Drawing: Hands-on experimentation and image-making.
- Group Discussion: What do we notice? What surprises us?
- Final Group Showcase.

WHAT’S PROVIDED
All materials, coffee, and snacks. You’re welcome to bring your own sketchbook or favorite tools too. Please note: This is a screen-free workshop (no computers, please).

WHERE
In person at Seba and Macarena's Home-Studio: Passatge de Masoliver 4, Bajos 2
