Statement of Need
The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, jointly with the Alabama Board of Nursing, developed a set of rules for the establishment of a collaborative practice as well as guidelines on how the practice is to be conducted with regards to supervision and quality assurance.

Information gleaned from inspections in the past showed deficiencies in the Quality Assurance Process; but since implementing these seminars, the deficiencies have decreased substantially. It is the consensus of the BME that these seminars are a much-needed part of physician regulation to clarify the process and requirements for remaining in compliance with the Collaborative Practice Rules and Regulations.
