Description: (Live Online Zoom)

Working with a marginalized and oppressed population can be difficult to engage in the therapy room due to systemic/structural barriers or personal beliefs. It is up to us as clinicians, therapists and healthcare providers to understand how to navigate those barriers and create a safe space and positive therapeutic environment. This presentation is aimed to share how you can meet the needs of Black Men in a strategic and intentional manner that establishes trust, safety and rapport.

Objectives:

As a result of this course, participants will be prepared to:

· Become knowledgeable in establishing trust, safety and rapport with clients who identify as African American Men.

· Examine fear and implicit bias that may be plaguing culturally competent treatment.

· Create a space of representation that allows for African American clients to feel seen, heard and validated.

Format: Live Zoom (once registered you will find a link on the online event page)
