"Endless Letterpress" Documentary Screening

San Francisco Center for the Book is a center of inspiration for the book arts world, featuring the art & craft of letterpress printing, bookbinding, and artists' bookmaking. We are dedicated to the art of the book!San Francisco Center for the Book offers more than 300 book arts workshops annual in our fully equipped print studio, arts and crafts room, and bindery. From introductory and project-based workshops to Core Certificate programs and master classes, San Francisco Center for the Book offers workshops that provide learning opportunities at all levels and span a wide range of book arts, including bookbinding and letterpress printing using traditional methods, as well as cutting-edge and experimental forms.San Francisco Center for the Book is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. The generosity of individual contributors combined with grants from foundations and government agencies fund out educational initiatives, public programs and exhibitions.

Join us for a special screening of "Endless Letterpress" and meet the film's directors, Pablo Pivetta and Nicholas Fuchs.

Synopsis: Facing the deteroriation of the machines and the advance of new technologies, the historical printing presses are closing their workshops. At the same time, a group of young people rediscovers the greatest technical innovation in the history of the written word: typeset printing. But it will be difficult for them to learn the trade since it has always been handed down from master to apprentice - and they are outsiders. The last graphic mechanic of the country will be in charge of teaching them so that this ancient technique will withstand the passage of time.
Director Bios: 
Nicholas Rodriguez Fuchs: After studying graphic design and film at Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU-UBA), Nicolás Rodríguez Fuchs takes his first steps working on post-production as vfx compositor and animator for TV series and commercials. ENDLESS LETTERPRESS is his first film.
 Pablo Pivetta: Graduated as a graphic designer at the University of Buenos Aires (FADU-UBA), photographer and wood type
collector, Pablo Pivetta combines all these interests to turn into filmmaking. Starting with short documentaries, ENDLESS LETTERPRESS is his first film.
