Relic is back in Kalamazoo - its birthplace! We are excited to present Enchanted Forest - our latest handcrafted, narrative-driven program!---This performance is about 1 hour long without intermission---About RelicRelic is a conductorless period chamber orchestra that connects with audiences through intimate, imaginative and dramatic representations of early music, with the goal of reaching communities in all 50 states. Relic’s innovative programming, which uses narrative “chapters” to unite a variety of repertoire into a breathtaking concert experience, has captured the hearts of new and seasoned concertgoers alike.Relic's commitment to taking early music on the road brought it to over a dozen communities in its first season alone. Through its own initiative, Relic has self-produced concerts in Washington D.C., Kalamazoo, MI, Greenbelt, MD, and Richmond, VA, among others. Relic’s presenters include Indianapolis Early Music Festival, Electric Earth Concerts, MusiCivic, Kalamazoo College, and Gotham Early Music Scene. Now in its second season, Relic is enjoying performances in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and New York.Committed to sharing their passion for early music with students of all ages, Relic members have given workshops, masterclasses and side-by-side performances at numerous schools. Most recently, Relic engaged in a residency at the University of Maryland featuring side-by-side performances with music students, and master classes at Western Michigan University. Relic actively seeks community engagement opportunities, offering free children’s concerts, informal performances, and open rehearsals in every region it visits.
