About this event

  • 6 hours

Live lightly! Buddha’s teachings on emptiness, or ultimate truth, provide a novel, liberating way to look at ourselves, others and our world. Emptiness is not nothingness, but the real nature of things. Through learning how to meditate on emptiness and mixing this understanding with our daily activities, we will find ourselves feeling happier, more relaxed, and better able to handle problems. Our relationships, work life and experience of city living will all see dramatic improvement.

Special guest teacher Gen Samten Kelsang is the Resident Teacher at KMC New York and regularly teaches throughout the US and world. As one of Venerable Geshe-la’s senior disciples, Gen Samten has had the unique opportunity to engage in a three-year retreat. He is renowned for the clarity of his teachings and his ability to help students improve their meditation practice, taking them to deeper levels of insight.

Everyone is welcome!

THE BENEFITS OF MEDITATION AT KMC BK: It’s much more than mindfulness.

You’ve probably heard: Meditation reduces stress. It improves concentration. It benefits your health. It can even slow aging. But, that’s just the beginning—at least if you meditate at Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn. Our meditation practices are based on a lineage of wisdom that has liberated practitioners from anxiety, stress, pain and suffering for thousands of years, long before there was “an app for that.”

Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn provides Brooklynites with the opportunity to learn about meditation and Modern Buddhism. KMC BK members are your friends, and neighbors who have found these teachings to be just as transformative today. Stop in to one of our many classes and see if they work for you too.

ABOUT US:

Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn offers Modern Buddhism and meditation classes designed to benefit everyone, regardless of their beliefs. Most of our classes and workshops are open to students at any level, and typically include a talk, guided meditation and discussion. We are a friendly, volunteer-run, non-profit community of meditation students. We are here to support your meditation practice. All are welcome!
