Course Description:
This course is designed for mothers who have children facing challenges but may be suffering in silence. Through this course, mothers will learn how to break free from judgment and understand their children's perspectives in order to find effective solutions together. By fostering empathy and open communication, mothers will gain the trust and cooperation of their children, ultimately creating a supportive and nurturing environment for their family.

Course Objectives:

  1. Understand the Impact of Judgment: Explore how judgment can affect relationships and hinder the ability to support children effectively.
  2. Embrace Empathy and Compassion: Learn how to empathize with children's experiences and struggles, fostering a deeper connection and understanding.
  3. Foster Open Communication: Develop strategies for creating a safe and supportive space where children feel comfortable expressing themselves.
  4. Explore Children's Perspectives: Gain insights into seeing situations from the viewpoint of children, allowing for more effective problem-solving and support.
  5. Build Trust and Cooperation: Implement techniques to build trust and cooperation with children, leading to collaborative solutions and positive outcomes.

Course Outline:
Week 1: Understanding Judgment

  • Introduction to the impact of judgment on relationships
  • Exploring personal biases and perspectives
  • Reflective exercises on overcoming judgment

Week 2: Embracing Empathy

  • The role of empathy in fostering connection
  • Practicing empathetic listening skills
  • Case studies and role-playing exercises

Week 3: Fostering Communication

  • Creating a safe and supportive communication environment
  • Techniques for active listening and effective communication
  • Building rapport and trust with children

Week 4: Seeing from Their Viewpoint

  • Understanding children's perspectives and experiences
  • Empathy mapping and perspective-taking exercises
  • Identifying common challenges and barriers from a child's perspective

Week 5: Building Trust and Cooperation

  • Strategies for building trust and rapport with children
  • Collaborative problem-solving techniques
  • Implementing solutions based on children's input and needs

Course Delivery:

  • The course will be delivered online through weekly video lectures, readings, and interactive discussions.
  • Weekly assignments and reflective exercises will encourage application of concepts in real-life situations.
  • Participants will have access to online forums for ongoing support and discussion with fellow mothers and the instructor.

  • Additional recommended readings and videos will supplement course content.

Assessment:

  • Participation in online discussions (20%)
  • Weekly assignments and reflections (40%)
  • Final project: Developing a personalized action plan for supporting children based on course learnings (40%)

Prerequisites:

  • Open to mothers of children facing challenges, regardless of age or nature of the challenge.
  • No prior experience or knowledge in psychology or counseling required.
