Welcome to Evidence Based Comprehensive Childbirth Education.

At New Birth Company, we believe natural childbirth is an awe-inspiring physical, emotional and spiritual experience. Therefore, our main goal through childbirth education is to encourage mothers to trust their bodies and to train well for the natural processes of labor and birth This class focuses on low intervention natural childbirth in the birth center setting, but families planning a birth in any setting are welcome to attend.

We will cover:

  • Preparing your body and mind for birth
  • Signs of labor
  • Stages and phases of labor
  • Comfort measures and pain management
  • Tips for partners
  • Ways to decrease stress, promote relaxation, and increase the odds of natural childbirth.
  • Possible challenges or interventions
  • Postpartum care
  • Postpartum mental health
  • Newborn care
  • Brief Intro to breastfeeding

Your partner/support person should also plan to attend (but does not need to register).

If enrolled in this class the participant can enroll in "The Use of Water in Labor and Birth Class" using a free voucher. Select "Voucher- enrolled in childbirth class" when registering for water class to check out at no cost.

Qualified nursing professionals can earn 9 contact hours of Continuing Nurse Education for attending this class. Prior registration for continuing education and additional fee required.

Objectives:

Each participant will demonstrate how to identify labor signs and stages and phases of labor.

Each participant will verbalize 3 comfort measures to use in labor.

Each participant will demonstrate how to decrease stress and promote relaxation in pregnancy, labor and birth.

Each participant will verbalize normal postpartum appearance of the mother.

Each participant will describe three symptoms of postpartum depression.

Each participant will list newborn home safety recommendations.

New Birth Company is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 9.0 contact hours applicable for RN, LPN or LMHT relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing Approved Provider Number LT0290-0614

What is New Birth Company Birth Center?

We believe natural childbirth is an awe-inspiring physical, emotional and spiritual experience that captures all senses of our bodily spectrum.

Using sight, sound, smell, taste and touch, we enhance the birth experience. You will see soothing colors that make you smile. You will hear soothing music commissioned specifically for women and childbirth. You will smell natural scents such as lavender and comfrey. You'll have a blueberry flax smoothie from the kitchen to keep up your energy. A wise woman's hands guides your body to choose its best position for birth.

Our facility also provides clinic rooms for pregnancy visits and well woman care, as well as space for classes and community gatherings. We have two birth centers, located in Kansas City, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas.
