Frequently asked questions

Is this really all levels?

YES! We mean all levels! Absolute beginners are very welcome.

Is there parking?

Yes! Our parking lot is located on Everett St. behind the building

Are there prizes?

Yes, we will have prizes for several categories.

Can you explain the styles better?

We want people to lift the most weight in the safest way possible. If that means you're squatting a kettlebell instead of a barbell back squat, we're down with that. If you're looking to chest press those 100lb dumbbells instead of a bench press bar, that's cool!

Will I need to weigh in?

No, we will not have weight classes. This competition is set up so that competitors can achieve their own PRs in the best way for them. You will need to declare your opening weights in advance. Organizers will be in touch prior to the event to note this.

What's the difference between the pull-up events?

The novice pull-up competition is for people who are trying to get their first pull-up. The advanced pull-up competition is for people who are trying to hit their max weighted pull-up.

Can kids compete?

Kids under 18 can compete with a parent or guardian in the gym with them the entire time.

How will the events be run?

The events are Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, and Pullup. You may or may not compete events in that order depending on number of entrants.

Are spectators allowed?

Yes! Spectator entry fee is $5 at the door, cash only.

Is the gym wheelchair accessible?

Yes! The facility is completely accessible.

Can I still compete if it's sold out?

Regular pricing at $70 in effect until April 26th. Late registration after April 26th is $85. If event is completely sold out, please send us an email to check in on space! hello@amplifyfitnessboston dot com.

What should I wear?

Please wear what you're comfortable lifting in. Singlets are NOT required. We do really love a good workout outfit though, so don't be shy. 80's aerobics vibe, superhero vibe, or a fit to die for -- we're here for all of it! (There may or may not be a prize related to outfit...)
