<h2>Empoderhadas</h2>Our goal for curating Ballet Hispánico of New York’s CAP festival was to highlight women and their strengths in art specifically. Empoderhadas means empowered women, but has a tweaked spelling for the purpose of highlighting all parts of women, and how they handle their power with grace uniquely to others. The added h into ‘empoderadas’ comes from the word ‘hadas’, meaning fairies, but signifies women's politeness and calmness that comes with their power. Both of these things together explain how women are impactful, and why we choose to highlight them for our CAP Arts Festival this year. We hope for our audience to leave with a deeper appreciation of the female lens, and realize we are all more alike than we are different.

In addition to our festival, Empoderhadas will include a donation drive benefiting communities in Venezuela. Guests who wish to participate are encouraged to bring new, unused, unperishable goods or items such as canned food, toiletries, school supplies, and hygiene products. Your participation is voluntary but any donations would be greatly appreciated.
