Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families

This course introduces principles of emergency physical intervention in the context of a relational culture. Participants review the stages of escalation and practice physical skills to minimize and/or evade potential of injury. Participants also practice physical skills for emergencies involving an imminent threat to physical safety when other non-coercive methods are clearly ineffective. Special focus is on the impact of trauma, minimizing risk exposure, and best practices for reducing the duration, intensity, and frequency of physical restraint.
Participant learning outcomes
On completion of this course successful participants will be able to:

<LI>Describe principles of emergency physical intervention in the context of a relational culture</LI>
<LI>Recognize and respond to stages of escalation and de-escalation</LI>
<LI>Demonstrate physical skills to promote safety during emergencies involving an imminent threat to physical safety when other non-coercive methods are clearly ineffective</LI>
</UL>
 
Hours are 9:00 - 5:00 (lunch on your own), Sign in begins at 8:30 am

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
This course is approved by the California Department of Social Service for 6 hours of continuing education for administrator recertification. Course Number: GH 166-0610-29433
This course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Education Psychologists (LEPs), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families; Provider 2522).
Provider approved by the California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators, Provider #; CP20 860 C 1120  for 6 Contact hours.
