Date: Wed, May 28, 2025

Time: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

Location: Terry Morgenthaler Theater at Roberta's House

This one-day healing-centered workshop invites women to explore the emotional strength of being supported by men during grief and loss. We will unpack cultural norms, challenge stereotypes, and reclaim vulnerability as a power source. Through guided sessions, breakout discussions, and an intergenerational panel, this space will affirm your worth and equip you with tools to receive care without guilt, shame, or hesitation.

Workshop Goals

  • To foster a culturally affirming space for women to explore vulnerability and grief
  • To examine barriers to receiving support
  • To challenge and dismantle the “Strong Black Woman” stereotype
  • To reframe vulnerability as a form of self-care and community healing
  • To highlight the emotional support capacities of men
  • To create a support network of healing and reflection

Core Themes

  • The cost of emotional suppression
  • Redefining strength and femininity
  • Embracing help as love, not pity
  • Building trust in relationships with men
  • Honoring grief and emotional complexity in motherhood
