Embracing Grief with Purpose and Understanding

For individuals with lived experience as a caregiver or patient affected by cardiovascular disease (CVD) also known as heart disease

Grief and loss are deeply personal experiences that can profoundly impact our emotional and physical health, especially for those living with or caring for someone with cardiovascular disease. In this transformative peer learning session, CVD patients and caregivers will explore the complexities of grief through a compassionate and healing lens. Together, we will share personal stories, explore the connection between grief, stress, trauma, and cardiovascular health, and learn practical tools for navigating emotional challenges.

Participants will engage in a supportive and judgment-free space to reflect, connect, and uncover how acknowledging grief can strengthen emotional resilience and promote heart health.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding Grief: Develop a deeper understanding of the stages and expressions of grief, with special attention to how grief related to CVD, whether from diagnosis, caregiving, or loss, can affect emotional and cardiovascular well-being.

  1. Developing Emotional Resilience: Explore strategies for coping with the emotional toll of caregiving and illness. Learn how to manage stress and trauma through self-compassion and healthy emotional practices that support both mental and heart health.

  1. Legacy and Purpose: Reflect on ways to honor the memories of loved ones and transform the experience of loss into purpose-driven living. Discover how finding meaning through grief can contribute to healing and personal growth.
