No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region, and online through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. If you are opposed to sharing your lovely face, let us know and we'll do our best to avoid that. Printmaking is full of surprise, mystery and delight. Making one of a kind, serendipitous prints, using everyday objects will help participants to enter into "creative flow". We will experiment with simple, elegant forms of printmaking using cardboard, natural objects, office supplies and kitchen implements. You will produce collage papers and monoprints and be encouraged to use them as a jumping off point for further art exploration, art journaling and more. As a group we will discuss the importance of embracing surprise, the unexpected, going with the flow and remaining open as reflected in our printmaking experience. If you are looking for a hands on way of opening up to creative, intuitive art work, this class is for you.
Special Supplies: An 8x10 gelli plate will be needed for the course, the instructor will have ones available for purchase at the first class for $20 a piece. If you have your own, please bring it to the first class.
Barb Smucker has a BA in Art and Psychology from Baldwin Wallace College and an MA in Student Personnel and Counseling from Bowling Green State University. She is currently a studio artist at the Pendleton Art Center and has taught countless art classes and workshops throughout the region. Barb strives to create a safe and fun atmosphere in the classroom and encourages students to tap into their personal creativity.
