About this event

  • 3 hours

The physical asana practice of yoga is intended to set the conditions, build a container to receive and experience the Prana/Qi/Energy of the Universe. By preparing the body and molding it into a cup, or vessel, we are better able to hold and experience the powerful energies of transformation experienced with the breath.

We will begin with a mix of gentle movement and exploration of deep stretches to remove any physical or energetic blockages. Finding the plug of the body into the socket of the earth enables a rooting and grounding energy to emerge. Grounding through asana and movement sets the stage for an even deeper experience of moving energy with Rebirthing Breathwork.

Rebirthing Breathwork was created in the 1970’s and is a method to explore non-ordinary states of consciousness via a simple breathing pattern. This workshop is an opportunity to begin to learn how to create powerful, (sometimes even psychedelic) experiences with just your presence and your breath.

By juxtaposing the yoga asanas with Rebirthing Breathwork the stage is set to have a grounded yet extra-ordinary experience. No prior yoga or Breathwork experience required.

Breathwork is an important addition to the toolbox of transformation as it can help create powerful somatic, emotional and spiritual experiences, allowing the participant to move beneath the surface of conscious thought and into the depths of the unconscious and pysche.

Ethan’s passion for Yoga began back in 2012 when searching for a way to heal his back pain. After years resigning himself to chronic pain, resulting from scoliosis surgery, Yoga was a revelation. He quickly became hooked on not on the physical wellbeing, but mental calm, that came with his deepening practice. He started teaching in 2017 in Brooklyn, NY – learning from a wide array of gifted teachers, covering many different modalities including Yin, Katonah Yoga, Pranayama, and Qi Gong. Ethan offers a gentle exploration of the body that is accessible for all experience levels. The synthesis of different Yogic styles provides students an opportunity to dive into a deeper awareness of the physical body, as well energetic and emotional bodies underneath. This practice is a pathway to exploring one’s wholeness in heart, mind, body, and Spirit.
