The Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Instituteat the University of Nevada, Las Vegas brings writers, and the literary imagination, into the heart of public life.

Black Mountain Institute

A free performance event where musicians, performers, poets, fashion designers and filmmakers explore the many definitions of “elevation."

Clark County Library

Join Black Mountain Institute and the Library District to explore “elevation” in some ways it is experienced and understood in our valley home. We’ll hear from local filmmakers, the renowned Mariachi Joya, emerging fashion designers and theater artists, slam poets, and a classically trained ballerina who also happens to be a physical comedienne. Through their performances, we’ll spend an evening that spans snowcaps to storm drains, and everything in between, and think about what these ups and downs mean for us.Featuring: ⛰️ Elle Hope (Emcee) ⛰️ Spotlight Poetry Las Vegas Slam Team ⛰️ A short film by Carlos Tkacz ⛰️ Fear and Funghi, a short play by Lucky Stiff (directed by Adriana Chavez) ⛰️ Las Vegas High School’s Mariachi Joya ⛰️ Bella Schleiker, dancer &amp; circus artist currently appearing in Miss Behave's Mavericks ⛰️ A fashion show by UNLV’s Runway RebelsParking &amp; Accessibility: The Clark County Library is located near the intersection of Flamingo Rd. and Maryland Pkwy. There is a large free parking lot located on the south side of the building off Escondido St. All attendees will enter through the theater walk parallel to Escondido St. The parking lot and pedestrian walkways are monitored by library security staff. ADA parking and ramps are available.
