Dr. Sean Wise, President of RePliForm Inc.  will demonstrate how predictable properties can be obtained for metal-plastic composite parts.

RePliForm Inc. is an electroplating company that specializes in applying engineering metal coatings over 3D printed resins. What makes electroplating particularly suited to applications in the AM world is that the process takes place close to room temperature in aqueous solutions but the deposited metal films have mechanical, electrical and thermal properties that are equivalent to the wrought properties of the base metals being deposited. The combination of processability and performance makes the metal coated parts suitable for a variety of engineering applications which take advantage of the design freedom and low cost offered by 3D resin printing with the performance of the easily applied metal coatings. This presentation will demonstrate how predictable properties can be obtained for metal-plastic composite parts with knowledge of the component properties and proportions. It will also cover applications using electroplated AM parts for antennas, EMI shielding, wind tunnel models, functional parts, decorative items and historic reproductions.
