  • 2-week online workshop with deadlines for homework, not self-paced
  • Asynchronous, interactive, and runs from Monday, September 30, 2024 through Friday, October 11, 2024
  • A third, optional, week is included for completion of final deliverables due by Friday, October 18, 2024

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Research shows that use of instructional technologies (tools within the LMS or available online) provide the opportunity to encourage and support effective collaboration and deeper learning for students in all learning modalities. Yet, the abundance of instructional technologies can garner a number of undesired responses for both faculty and students including confusion, avoidance, misapplication, frustration, and more. By their very nature, instructional technologies require time to discover, explore, ensure accessibility, connect with our course components, write cohesive instructions for, effectively launch and facilitate, and finally, thoroughly evaluate. Together, in this Effective Use of Instructional Technology workshop, we will assess various instructional technologies for effectiveness and develop several applications of technology use leading to the accomplishment of one or more learning objectives for at least one of your online or hybrid courses.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and evaluate multiple instructional technologies for effectiveness and accessibility.
  • Apply effective instructional strategies within curriculum, including transparent (TILT) instructions for learner action.
  • Ensure course components are influenced by Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI), and Quality Matters (QM) standards.

About the Active Delivery Certification Series:

Research shows the following course elements result in greater motivation and retention and completion for students in eLearning courses:

  • Learning activities that are actively designed and delivered
  • Inclusive and dynamic learning communities
  • Productive relationships between learners and instructors

The 5-workshop Active Delivery series is comprised of eL301, eL302, eL303, eL304, and eL305, and aims for these results by assessing determinants of presence and related instructor roles, planning and developing formative feedback focused on student achievement of learning objectives, and evaluating and applying universally-designed, equity-minded, and culturally-responsive Active Delivery strategies.

This eL310, Effective Use of Instructional Technology workshop, is a special addendum that enhances curriculum and application in both eL202 and eL304 with a specific focus on technology.
