Join us for an in-person poetry workshop that will take place in the exhibition, Bob Thompson: This House is Mine. Arisa White, assistant professor of English and Creative Writing at Colby College, will lead this workshop, with participants spending time with multiple works of art and then delving into the process of arranging, mixing, and remixing words to reflect the pattern and mood of their selected Bob Thompson painting.

This one-hour workshop is designed for anyone age 13+ who is comfortable writing creatively. It will have a limited capacity, and pre-registration for the workshop is required. This is a free workshop, with all materials provided, as well as light refreshments.

Bio:

Arisa White is the author of several poetry collections. Her most recent work is the poetic memoir, Who’s Your Daddy. She is the co-editor of the anthology Home Is Where You Queer Your Heart, and co-author of Biddy Mason Speaks Up, the second book in the Fighting for Justice Series for young readers, which won the Maine Literary Award for Young People's Literature. As the creator of the Beautiful Things Project, Arisa curates poetic collaborations that center narratives of queer people of color. She is a Cave Canem fellow and serves on the board of directors for Foglifter and is a community board member for Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance.
