PARAEDUCATOR RECRUITMENT EVENTParaeducators assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment. They also assist in the preparation of instructional materials and provide routine clerical support.Indoors and out, paraeducators also monitor the behavior of students in the classroom and during outdoor activities including emergency drills according to approved procedures and report progress regarding student performance and behavior as required.Being a paraeducator also means assisting students with building self-esteem by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance.

ELK GROVE UNIFIED IS HIRING!The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) has an immediate need to fill approximately 100 positions and is now recruiting for Special Education Paraeducators . On April 29, 2021, EGUSD will host virtual paraeducator interviews from 3:30pm-5:30pm.EGUSD is looking for dynamic and engaging candidates to join a team of dedicated educators who strive to support students to be college and career ready by graduation.Whether you are relatively new to education or a seasoned professional, consider making a significant contribution to the educational development of students in Elk Grove Unified and help support their return to in-person learning.

INFORMATION &amp; INSTRUCTIONS Follow the steps below to secure a virtual interview. All requirements must be met in order for EGUSD to confirm your interview. 1. Register on Eventbrite. Click "Register" and select your preferred interview time frame. You will receive an email confirmation of your registration.2. Apply on EDJOIN. Complete an application for Paraeducator position/pool, by April 25, 2021. Qualified candidates will receive an email on April 27, 2021 with a zoom link for their interview on April 29, 2021.Working as a ParaeducatorOur Paraeducators are an important link in classrooms assisting certificated teachers with reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special education students in various classroom environments. A Paraeducator provides a variety of instructional methods and techniques on basic subjects taught in District schools including mathematics, reading, writing, grammar and spelling. This position requires proficiency with oral and written communication skills. For moderate to severe students, our Paraeducators assist with specialized feedings and provide personal care such as grooming, toilet or diaper changing, lifting, and carrying students as necessary. They also assist teachers with modifying student behavior using behavior and crisis intervention methodologies.NCLB Paraeducator requirements can be met by completion of ONE of the following:<ul><li>EGUSD No Child Left Behind Certificate</li><li>California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)</li><li>College Transcripts (48 semester units) or AA Degree (or higher)</li></ul>
