About this event

Join us for May's EKAC Impact Day on the beautiful island of Egmont Key! For just $25, you can purchase a ticket to volunteer alongside us for a day of environmental stewardship. Your ticket includes a ferry ride to and from the island, providing you with convenient transportation.

All proceeds from ticket sales go towards supporting the Egmont Key Alliance Committee (EKAC). The EKAC's mission is to regenerate, preserve, and protect the island's ecosystems, as well as to preserve its natural and historic heritage. Additionally, the EKAC aims to develop visitor-friendly educational and interpretive programs.

But that's not all! Your ticket purchase also includes a year-long EKAC membership, offering you exclusive perks such as:

For this particular Impact Day on May 18th, 2024, we'll be dedicating three hours to supporting Florida State Parks and U.S. Fish and Wildlife for island management. Activities will include trail cleanups to clear paths for visitors to connect with the island's natural beauty.


Here are the details for the event:

Date: May 18th, 2024

Departure Location: The trip departs from the Ft De Soto Pier inside Ft De Soto Park, located at 3500 Pinellas Bayway S, Tierra Verde, FL 33715.

Arrival Time: Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before the departure time, which will be provided 48 hours prior to the event.

Boat Departure Time: The ferry ride is complimentary and provided by Hubbard's Marina. Departure time is scheduled between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, depending on reservations and availability.

Ferry Ride Duration: Approximately 20-30 minutes.

Prohibited items on Egmont Key include alcohol, glass, pets, kites, or drones, as it is a wildlife preserve.

What should I bring for the day?

Treat the day like an outdoor adventure. Bring athletic clothes, closed-toe shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, towels, bathing suits, sun-protective hats, shirts, and other beach gear.

Are there facilities available on the island?

There are no bathrooms or shops on Egmont Key. However, there is a bathroom available on the boat. Be sure to bring a cooler with water, food, and drinks for your visit to the island.

Is there a parking fee?

Yes, there is a $5 parking fee required by Fort De Soto.
