Join us for an interactive workshop with artistic scientist Martin Krzywinski where he will use his critique by redesign technique on images submitted by CEEHRC trainees to show us all how to create effective scientific illustrations.Martin will present this workshop in person in Room 102, Michael Smith Laboratories, University of British Columbia.We will also have in person viewing hubs in:<ul><li>Room 6001 of the McGill Genome Centre, McGill University</li><li>Room EM1.3509 at the Research Institute, McGill University Health Centre</li><li>Room LC4054 in the Longwood Center, Dana Farber</li><li>Room1007 in the Roger Guindon Building, University of Ottawa.</li></ul>For those who cannot attend in person we will broadcast the workshop live over Zoom.The workshop is free to attend with refreshments and snacks provided to those attending in person events.

Agenda

Martin Krzywinski creates visuals with analytical clarity and artistic dimensions.
He created Circos (a community standard) and hive plots (a farewell to hairballs) and is triggered by pie charts and slipshod data visualization. His information graphics have appeared in the New York Times, Wired, and Scientific American as well as on the covers of books and scientific journals such as Science, Nature and PNAS.
He is a co-author of the Nature Methods Points of Significance and Points of View columns. 
He teaches how to design scientific figures and scientific posters using his method of critique by redesign.
