Edit for Equity

Edit for Equity is dedicated to increasing the presence of women and non-binary New Zealanders on Wikipedia.Edit for Equity is a project ofANTISTATIC, and is proudly supported by Ministry for Women's Suffrage 125 Community Fund.

To coincide with this year's Suffrage 125 celebrations, we invite you to Edit for Equity, a series of four Wikipedia edit-a-thons to increase the online presence of women and non-binary New Zealanders. All genders and ages are welcome to participate. All events are suitable for first-timers and experienced Wikipedia editors alike. No experience needed!
Each event is themed around a different topic, and you are welcome to attend as many as you like. Each edit-a-thon will start with an introduction from an experienced Wikipedia editor, followed by editing time where you'll be supported in the editing equivalent of a pick-your-own adventure: create a new profile for someone cool, add more references to an existing one, update a photo. We'll have ideas and guidance for those who have no idea where to start.
Bring you laptop and power cord if you have access to one — we will also have some availiable to use. Note that iPads aren't quite as easy to edit on. Snacks and drinks will be provided to keep you energised and caffeinated.
Accessibility: all venues have sliding/open door front entrances with a flat entrance or ramp. There is elevator access where venues aren't on the ground floor (InternetNZ and Ngā Taonga). There are accessible bathrooms at all venues.

FAQs

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
You can email us directly at hello@antistaticpartners.com

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No need to! We'll have your name on our list.

Can I attend more than one edit-a-thon?
Yes! You can attend as many edit-a-thon sessions as you like.

What if I'm interested in women in politics, but I am only available to attend the STEM event?
No problem. You're welcome to work on any topic at any of the events. The themes are just a suggestion, and a way to bring together people with similar interests.

I can't think of any important NZ women or nonbinary people who don't already have Wikipedia pages!
Never fear. We're compiling a list of New Zealanders who need pages or page updates, and we'll try to create entries for as many of these people as possible. You're welcome to add names to the list!
