Edinburgh Codeworkshops - Code Retreat
Sat, April 8, 2017, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM BST
Do you love to code?
Do you enjoy pair programming and test-driven development?
Do you want to have fun and up your coding skills at the same time?
Well, good news! We are proud to announce Edinburgh Code Workshop’s April event.
What is it?
It’s a one-day pair programming code retreat focusing on test-driven development specifically aimed at under-represented groups in technology. We’ll follow the code retreat format described here: CodeRetreat.org
Doors will open at 9.00am, and both breakfast and lunch will be provided over the course of the day. We will start promptly at 9.30am with a short introductory session, and the remainder of the day will be one-hour sessions of 45 minutes coding, 15 minutes retrospective, with a leisurely lunch at about 12.30pm.
Who is it for?
Everyone* is welcome, but you’ll probably get the most of the day if you have some existing programming experience, whether in your job or through hobby projects. Some exposure to writing unit tests, for example, would be a plus.
*Members of under-represented groups in technology are especially encouraged to apply. We can provide free childcare if needed, but please let us know before 10th March.
What must I bring?
You’ll need a laptop set up with your favourite environment and testing framework.
