Information webinar - mapping of needs and interests for an Ecosystem Condition Protocol

The Ecosystem Condition (EC) Protocol development is being considered in response to a recognized need from corporates for detailed and clear guidance on ecosystem condition measurement and accounting, taking up available general guidelines &amp; recommendations and pushing them further. Similar to the GHG Protocol but for ecosystem condition, an EC Protocol would provide key guidance to corporates to easily report against the TNFD’s core disclosure metric C5.0 on ecosystem condition, GRI’s Disclosure 101-7 "Changes to the state of biodiversity or the CSRD’s disclosure requirement E4-5 paragraph 41b on “impact metrics related to biodiversity and ecosystems change” for example.How to measure the impact of your firm on the state of ecosystems? What metrics are appropriate and fit the requirements of key disclosure frameworks and regulations? How to delineate responsibilities in your value chain and within a landscape?An EC Protocol would ensure that robust approaches are used to measure and account for impacts. It would ensure the emergence of a level playing field and enable frontrunners to disclose with confidence, including for their positive impacts on ecosystem condition.The Protocol needs to be built in close collaboration with existing key initiatives and frameworks, providing the consensus and guidance required to measure and account for ecosystem condition, without duplicating existing and ongoing work.The webinar will focus on:<ul><li>The needs the EC Protocol would fill,</li><li>The guiding priniciples of the EC Protocol governance,</li><li>A first mapping of questions the Protocol would answer and of already existing sources of information, and</li><li>Getting your first impressions on the Protocol’s initiative and objectives!</li></ul>Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide preliminary feedback during the session.
