This year’s theme is Ecological Forestry and will feature speakers from the U.S. Forest Service, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and others presenting the background, guiding principles, benefits, current practices and the future of ecological forestry in the United States. In addition to a nationwide scope, the conference will focus on forestry in the Northern Great Lakes Region. Topics include a review of natural disturbances, ecological silviculture systems, mature and old growth characteristics, and case studies of on-going projects. The second day includes a field tour to representative ecological forestry sites. An agenda and list of speakers and field tour topics will be added to the webpage as they become available, so check back often. Foresters, land managers and other natural resources professionals from Wisconsin and adjacent states are expected to attend. There is a block of rooms reserved for the event until October 8.
