Now the Green Blade Rises: Storytelling for the Healing of Creation

Saturday, April 17, 2021, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm via Zoom

Hosted by the EcoFaith Network of the Northeastern Minnesota Synod

Together with the EcoFaith Network of the Minneapolis Area Synod, Lutheran Advocacy Minnesota, Lutherans Restoring Creation, Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light, the St. Paul Area Synod Care of Creation Work Group, and Together Here Ministries - Northeastern Minnesota Synod

Goal: Through the telling of personal and biblical stories, to strengthen the grassroots movement among the People of God to hear the cry of creation and heed God’s call to respond

For whom: earthkeeping teams, ministry leaders, and all the People of God throughout the Upper Midwest and beyond

Featuring

  • Speaker Professor Barbara Rossing, Professor of New Testament, Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago, Director of Environmental Studies Program
  • Diverse storytellers (see names below)
  • Small group breakout sessions in which each participant has the opportunity to react, dream, consider future actions and tell their own stories
  • Now the Green Blade Rises Music videos as performed for the Moments of Arising videos, with musical arranger and director Paul Jacobson, and filmmaker Linda Kalweit

  • A story teller to be named centering on sustainable/regenerative agriculture

Schedule

Music videos - stanzas of Now the Green Blade Rises, excerpted from the Moments of Arising.

Partner hosts – will be introduced/introduce themselves throughout the morning.

Action invitations – each partner host will be asked to identify one specific upcoming action or study opportunity to which they can invite Summit participants.

Pre-Summit zoom gathering with presenting hosts – date TBD – at which one or two reps from each presenting host group will meet each other and discuss both the plan for the Summit and goals for its outcome.
